Chinanews, Beijing, July 11 – In the first six months of 2007, numerous meteorological disasters hit China, causing 50 billion yuan worth of economic losses and 671 casualties, including 254 killed by thunderbolt.

According to Zheng Guoguang, the director of the National Meteorological Administration, the average temperature in the first 6 months in China was 8.3 degrees centigrade, a new high since 1951. Besides, China has been witnessing an abnormally warm climate for 11 consecutive1 years.

Luckily, there have been fewer hurricanes and storms in China this year. By now, only three storms have occurred on the West Pacific and South China Sea. However, other disasters are much more terrible.
