Microsoft has announced that it will work with Chinese smartphone makers¹ Lenovo and Xiaomi to develop smart devices that run the latest version of its Windows operating system.

As part of the deal, Lenovo is planning to launch Windows-based smartphones this summer.

The new Windows 10 operating system is slated³ for launch sometime this summer.

Windows Phone accounts for less than 1-percent of the overall smartphone OS sector⁴ in China.
