Famous Chinese singer Yin Xiangjie has been sentenced to 7 months in prison and fined 2000 yuan for illegal drug possession.

中国著名歌手尹相杰因非法持有毒品罪被判处7个月监禁并罚款两千元。

Singer Yin Xiangjie stands at the first trial where he was charged for the illegal consumption and possession of drugs at a local court in eastern Beijing on February 28, 2015.

The sentence came after the first trial of the case was held in a local court in Beijing's Chaoyang District earlier this morning.

The equipment he used when taking drugs have also been confiscated¹.

46-year-old Yin was charged with possessing more than 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Yin was detained over drug use and illegal possession at his home in east Beijing late last December.

Earlier this month, the People's Procuratorate in Chaoyang District prosecuted² Yin on charges of illegal drugs possession.
