Jaycee Chan, son of kung-fu star Jackie Chan, has been given a sentence of 6 months in jail for the crime of sheltering others to take drugs.

The verdict was given after a public trial at Dongcheng District court in Beijing this morning.

The younger Chan was detained by police in Beijing along with Taiwan movie star Ko Kai on August 14, 2014.

Police seized more than 100 grams of marijuana from Chan's home in Beijing.

According to China's Criminal Law, if a suspect is held in custody¹ before the pronouncement of the judgment², the days in custody will also be counted as time serving the prison sentence.

Therefore, Chan will be released in the early morning of February 14.
