Chinanews, Beijing, December 27 – According to a report on the development of youth population in China, an increasing proportion of young Chinese choose to remain single.
In 1995, 51.54% of young people aged1 under 29 were unmarried, but the rate rose to 59.17% in 2000, and in 2005 further to 65.89%. Experts think that the pressure from fast life pace nowadays has prevented a large number of young people from getting married in time, and there are also many young people who appreciate the freedom of staying single. China's unbalanced gender2 ratio should also be one of the most important factors causing its large single population.
