A worker at a food factory in the city of Honghu in Hubei Province has invented a washing machine for quickly cleaning crayfish.

Zhang Kaiwei partnered with washing machine factories to produce 10 tailor-made washing machines, after he spent 3 years developing¹ his idea.

 

"It only takes 3 minutes for each of the washing machines to clean 50 kilograms² of crayfish, and 99 percent of them are still alive after being washed," said Zhang, who is also a crayfish feeding expert.

 

He's received orders for his invention, along with positive feedback³ through his shop on Taobao.

 

Crayfish have become increasingly⁴ popular in China in recent years. The China Society of Fisheries says that the country produced 1.12 million tons of crayfish in 2017.
