Chinanews, Beijing, Dec. 27 – Fu Zhenghua, vice1 director of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, said on Monday that Beijing’s entertainment places are now free of drugs. After great achievement has been made in the fight against drug-related activities in public entertainment places, Beijing police will shift their attention to cracking down on drug-related activities in public places next year. In order to do so, Beijing police will assign more labrador dogs in public places, the Beijing Times reported.

 

Fu said that this year, local anti-drug departments have sucessfully cracked down on drug-related crimes realized the goal that no drug-related activities should occurr in show places. Starting from last June, Beijing municipal government launched a special action against drug-related offences in entertainment places. In this action, Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau sent out 18,000 policemen to deal with the problem. By applying various methods, such as secret investigation2 and investigation jointly3 with local media, and through investigation, policemen had checked 16,532 public entertainment venues4 and found 38 of them were involved in drug-related activities. Of these, 11 were ordered to close their business for rectification5 and 3 were banned from business.

 

Next year, Beijing municipal government will launch a campaign to fight against drug-related activities in public places. By then, some civil policemen will dress in white vests as uniforms and search for drugs in public places such as airports, railway stations, public bus stations, city subways, logistic companies, store houses, and delivered mails. In order to prevent sniffer dogs from hurting people, police will mainly choose those dogs which have a small size and mild temperament6 to carry out the task.
