Chinanews, Chengdu, July 24 - According to the latest information from Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Center, Chengji, a female giant panda there, gave birth to twin baby pandas on the afternoon of July 23.

Chengji, now 7, gave birth to the twins after 129 days of pregnancy¹. She was brought to bed at 3:00 am. The first baby panda was born at 5:50 pm, and the second was born half an hour later. It was the first time for Chengji to become a mother.

The second baby panda is female and 176 g heavy. However, as Chengji takes the first baby firmly in her arms, it is impossible to check its gender² and weight.
