Chinanews, Chongqing, Feb. 9 – A pair of conjoined twins took a dissociated operation only 92 days after they had been born. The operation was done on Thursday by doctors from the Xinqiao Hospital at the No.3 Medical University in Chongqing. This is the third time that the Chongqing doctors have successfully done such operation.   The twins shared a liver. But each had their own heart, kidneys and lungs. Their conjoined part measured 27.5 centimeters in girth and 10 centimeters in length.   The operation started at 8:20 o’clock in the morning. At 13:35, the doctors successfully separated their shared liver. At 13:35, the conjoined twins, who had lived together for three months, were separated completely.   The two babies had a physical deficiency in their stomachs, which measured 15 centimeters in diameter and 8 meters in width. Doctors stitched up the wounded part and the operation had not harmed the babies’ respiratory system. So far, the twins were in a good condition, said Liang Ping, the operating surgeon.
