The long-range missile has been domestically designed and manufactured in Iran.

 

General Hossein Dehghan with the Iranian Defense¹ Ministry² says the missile represents a major milestone³ in his country's weapons development.

 

"A liquid-fuel long-range strategic missile has been tested. New technological⁴ changes have been made to the missile enabling it to hit targets with high precision. The possibility to guide the missile until it hits the target is a new technology that our defense industry engineers have attained⁵. It will obviously boost the strategic deterrence⁶ capability⁷ of our armed forces."

 

Iran boasts one of the largest missile programs in the Middle East, but poor accuracy has limited its potential effectiveness.

 

Reports suggest the missile is the first in Iran's arsenal⁸ that can be guided and controlled until hitting its target.
