Train travelers are going to ride green trains again. The China Railway Corporation (CRC) is going to redecorate some of its trains with green paint from the end of this year, Beijing News reports.

The trains to turn green include all but none high-speed trains, and inter-city trains.

The traditional green trains run at a speed of 100-120 kilometers per hour. Heating and hot water supply on those trains relied on burning coals, and there were no air conditioning facilities. Hence, the tickets for green trains were much cheaper, which was quite attractive to price-sensitive travelers.

Since China is improving its railway capacity and introducing new trains and high-speed trains, the poorly equipped green trains are gradually fading out.
