Chinanews,Nanjing, July 5 – Many beggar1 girls in their 20s can be seen in Nanjing nowadays. They sit on the sidewalks, begging passers-by for help. A local reporter had an interview with several of them, finding2 that their income can be as high as 3,000 - 4,000 yuan.

The reporter went to Huaihai Road on July 1, this year, where he spotted3 a young woman kneeling4 beside the entrance of a underground passage, with a large piece of paper spreading before her, saying that she was a teacher and her husband had died in a recent car accident, thus she needed help.

When the reporter went over to ask her for some details, she became quite alert5. The woman left as soon as she found out the identity6 of the reporter.

Another beggar girl was friendlier, She told the reporter that she often earned as much as a public servant in Nanjing. “This life is really easy, and I once begged in Shanghai, where the situation was similar to Nanjing,” said she proudly.
