Chinanews, Beijing, June 7 – Due to the mounting work pressure and unstable1 job market, 19.1% of the pink-collar workers feel dissatisfied with their current life, according to a recent report released by the Huakun Women's Life Survey Center, the Beijing Evening News reported.

In order to do the report, Huakun Women's Life Survey Center, a subsidiary institution under the All-China Women's Federation2, investigated pink-collar workers in some large and medium cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Dalian and Chengdu. The report tries to give a whole picture of pink-collar ladies' life by comparing their age, marital3 status, and the cities in which they live.

In Beijing, about 24.2% of the pink-collar ladies feel “satisfied” with their current life, 56.7% say their life is “so-so” and 19.1% feel dissatisfied with their life. The percentage points of those who feel dissatisfied with life are the highest among the eight cities. The survey also shows that women with a child and women who are at the age of 31-35 feel most satisfied, while women at the age of 25 and below are most dissatisfied with their life.

In Beijing, the average salary of pink-collar workers is about 6,000 yuan, the highest among the eight cities. Since the ladies are financially independent and well-educated, they are not constrained4 by existing work or traditional ideas. Under the great social pressure, they tend to work hard in order to make more money and they constantly hop5 from one job to another. The survey shows that 40% of the pink-collar workers have the experience of changing jobs or are planning to do so. These are all the reasons that make them dissatisfied with life, said the survey organizer.

The survey shows that compared with other cities, pink-collar ladies in Beijing cherish the freedom of life most. This is especially true of those who are below the age of 25. People above the age of 25, are more prone6 to pursue the happiness in life. As they want to live a more free life, many pink-collar ladies remain single and change jobs very often.

The average salary of all pink-collars workers in the survey is 4,420.9 yuan. A pink-collar worker might spend three and half months of their salary in things that will make them look more beautiful. They spend nearly 10,000 yuan on clothes and decorations. In addition, one-seventh of their salary is spent on leisure activities, such as seeing movies, going to KTV bars or cafes.
