In addition, many white collars also raise the baby issue. “I like children very much. However, in order to keep my present job, I have to persuade my husband that we will have a baby at a later time,” they say.

The survey shows that the top ten troubles that Shanghai white collars pick are: frequent travels; sexual harassment3 from male bosses; dining with male customers; fussy4 female bosses; sexual discrimination; family members’ complaints about not giving birth to a baby; walking home at night alone; unable to give birth to a baby due to busy work schedule; working overtime5 frequently; and possibility of losing their jobs from childbirth.
