| Oct. 8 - China won the champion of the Women's Fencing Team Epée in the competitions with France in the World Fencing Championship, the top-seeded squad1 of the Championship held in Italy yesterday, with the score of 45-26. This is the first time for Chinese fencers to achieve the team champion in the history of world championship.
France won the silver medal and Germany got the bronze. The best result that China women fencers ever won before was the silver medal won in the Championship 1999. The champion of the Men's Fencing Team Sabre is France, and they beat Ukraine with 45-41 in the final competition.
