Chinese Go Chess prodigy¹ Ke Jie has been admitted to Tsinghua University.

中国围棋奇才柯洁被清华大学录取。

Ke Jie is expected to enroll² at the prestigious³ institution this fall, with a reported focus on business administration. However, the 21-year old has reportedly not decided⁴ on a major at this point, suggesting Go remains⁵ his top priority.

Ke Jie holds the rank of 9 dan in Go, which is the equivalent of a Master in Chess.

He became the world's top-ranked Go player in late 2014, and continues to maintain his position.

Born in 1997, Ke Jie was first taught how to play Go in 2003 when he was 5-years old. He won his first national championship in 2007.

Ke Jie won his first world title at the Bailing⁶ Cup in January 2015.

Outside of Go circles, Ke Jie is best known for his matches against Google's AlphaGo, in which he lost all three games against the AI algorithm in May, 2017.
