Despite being around for well over a decade, there are few set rules of 'digital etiquette1' that everyone can agree on when it comes to using social media, emails and text messages.

Some hate oversharing, others love to air their dirty laundry whenever they can and a small number think it's acceptable2 to end relationships over text.

Digital etiquette, or netiquette as it is sometimes called, is a basic set of rules you should follow in order to make the internet better for others, and better for you. It’s just as important to treat people with courtesy3 and respect online as it is in real life.
