Chinanews, Beijing, October 10 – Dream in Dunhuang, a stage dance performance based on the legends of the ancient Silk Road, was put on in the National Grand Theatre on October 9, 2007. The audiences were deeply impressed with its fabulous scene setting, delicate dance and charming plot, all imbued with ubiquitous flavor of western China.
The theme of Dream in Dunhuang is the love between Mo Gao, a young painter, and Yueya, the daughter of a general. Besides rosy romance, the show also displays the pursuit of ultimate art during the building of the Mogao Grottos.
The creating of Dream in Dunhuang was started in 1998, and debuted in 2000. In the past 7 years, it appeared before the footlights of 20-plus Chinese cities and has had several overseas tours. Statistics show that there have been exactly 400 shows of Dream in Dunhuang by now.
Next February, Dream in Dunhuang will start its tour in Europe.
