| Chinanews, Lhasa, September 19 – Tibet Autonomous Region has recently updated its regulations on protecting cultural relics, requiring that all the new buildings in the region must not affect the original appearance of historical buildings located next to them.
Tibet has more than 2,000 non-movable cultural heritages. It released regulations on protecting them in 1990, which were updated in 1996 for the first time.
The central government also attaches great importance to protecting Tibetan cultural relics. The Ministry of Finance has allocated 330 million yuan for renovation of the Potala Palace, Norbu Lingka and Sagya Monastery, the three most important ancient buildings in Tibet.
