Chinanews, Dalian, November 29 – Overweight problems has both affected1 the health of the Chinese, and caused great economic losses. In 2005 alone, the Chinese spent about 11 billion yuan for reducing their superfluous2 fat, and the amount of money involved is growing by 5% every year. It can be estimated that the weight-loss market will reach the 60-billion-yuan mark by 2010.

 

Currently, there are about 9 million Chinese suffering from obesity3. Many of the obese4 population are in the southwest, northeast and north parts of the country, especially in big cities. For example, nearly 30% of the Beijingers are overweighted.

 

What is worse is that more than 50% of youths in China are overweighted.
