Chinanews, Shanghai, Feb. 9 – In 2006, Shanghai per capita GDP figure exceeded 7,000 US dollars. If calculated by international computation method, such figure would even exceed 7,500 US dollars, director of the Shanghai Municipal Statistics Bureau Pan Jianxin said on Wednesday.   Pan said that if we used the computation method designated by the National Statistics Bureau, in which the annual GDP figure in a certain region should be divided by the number of permanent residents who have lived in that region for at least half a year, then Shanghai’s per capita GDP was 7,189 US dollars in 2006. However, if we used a computation method commonly accepted in the world, in which the annual GDP figure is usually divided by the number of residents who have lived in the region for at least one year, then Shanghai’s per capita GDP figure would be 7,490 US dollars last year.   Many experts once expected that Shanghai’s per capita GDP would exceed the 7,500-US-dollar mark in 2007, and further reach 10,000 US dollars by 2010.
