Egyptian security forces crushed the protest camps of thousands of supporters of the deposed¹ Islamist president on Wednesday, shooting more than 200 of them dead in the bloodiest² day in decades and polarising the Arab world's most populous³ nation.

 

埃及安全部队本周三对被罢免的前总统穆尔西支持者的营地实施“清场”行动，二百余人遭射杀身亡，这一天是几十年来最血腥的一天，也让这个阿拉伯世界人口最多的国家陷入极端分化状态。

 

“清场”在文中用到的表达是to crush the protest camp，或者to crush protesters，另外也可以用to clear the protest camp表示。埃及国家电视台援引总统府声明说，埃及从14日开始进入紧急状态（state of emergency），为期一个月；同时在开罗和其他几个城市实行彻夜宵禁（dusk-to-dawn curfew）。

 

埃及过度政府可能继续采取强硬措施通过进一步的“武力清场(assault on protest camps)”彻底结束旷日持久的静坐（sit-ins）和对峙（confrontation/stand-off）。
