Bo Xilai, former Communist Party of China chief of Chongqing Municipality, stood trial in open court Thursday on charges of taking bribes¹, embezzlement² and abuse of power at the Jinan Intermediate People's Court in East China's Shandong province.

 

原重庆市委书记薄熙来受贿、贪污、滥用职权一案于本周四在山东省济南市中级人民法院公开审理。

 

微博直播“公开受审”（to stand trial in open court）是公开审判制度（open trial system）的新形式，是近年庭审使用新媒体的标志性事件。公开审理还可以用to be heard in public/open court来表达，如：China allows death penalty cases to be heard in open court beginning 2006（自2006年起，中国允许死刑案件公开审理）。

 

7月25日，薄熙来案由山东省济南市人民检察院（Jinan People's Procuratorate）向济南市中级人民法院提起公诉（public prosecution³）。起诉书（indictment）指控，被告人薄熙来依法应当以受贿罪（taking bribes）、贪污罪（embezzlement）、滥用职权罪（abuse of power）追究刑事责任（criminal responsibility），并予以数罪并罚（joinder of punishment for plural⁴ crimes）。
