ACT ACCORDING TO CIRCUMSTANCES

　　随机应变

　　A young man was called up for army service, but he didn't want to become a soldier. Whenhe went for his medical examination, he pretended that his eyesight was very poor.

　　The doctor pointed to the eye chart on the wall and said, “Please read the top line.”

　　“The top line of what?” the young man asked.

　　“The top line of the chart,” replied the doctor.

　　“What chart?” the man asked.

　　“The one on the wall,” the doctor said.

　　“What wall?” the man asked.

　　Finally, the doctor decided that the man's eyes were not good enough for army service.

　　That evening the same young man was at a movie when another man came in and sat next tohim in the dark. When the lights went on, the young man saw that his neighbor was the doctorwho had examined him earlier. Immediately he said, “Excuse me, ma'am, but does this bus go toMain Street?”

　　一个年轻人接到了应征入伍的通知，但他不想当兵。去体检的时候，他假装视力很差。

　　医生指着墙上的视力表说：“请读出第一行。”

　　“什么的第一行？”年轻人问。

　　“表的第一行。”医生回答。

　　“什么表？”年轻人问。

　　“墙上这张。”医生说。

　　“哪儿有墙？”年轻人问。

　　最后，医生判断他的视力太差，达不到入伍标准。

　　当天晚上这位年轻人跑去看电影，这时，黑暗里走进来一个人，就落座在他旁边。灯亮的时候，年轻人发现旁边这位就是之前给他检查视力的医生。他立马说道：“打扰一下，太太，请问这趟公交车去大街吗？”
