3. Creation/Destruction (1)

1) Did you watch the new office building being built?
   你看过在建设中的新的办公楼吗？
   * office 之后之所以接 being built，主要因为是指“在建设中”。

2) The racer's car burst into flames just as he had crawled out.
   当赛车手爬出车子后不久，汽车就爆炸燃烧了起来。
   * burst 是爆炸的意思，有强调其突然和猛烈的作用。

3) Insecticides destroy many harmful bugs.
   杀虫剂能驱除许多害虫。
   * destroy 是被灭尽、扑灭，和 damage 等不同，具有完全破坏之意。

4) The young wheat sprouted quickly after the rain.
   雨后，新鲜的麦芽迅速的长了出来。
   * sprout 用于指植物长出新芽。
   e.g. Brussels sprout.  芽孢。

5) Eugene could create beautiful images with his paints.
   尤金能够把美丽的形象用画笔画出来。

6) Slowly, mountains are worn away by the wind.
   山体逐渐被风化了。
   * 使用 wear 表示疲倦时，可以用“I'm worn out.”表达。

7) The chemist discovered a new synthetic material.
   化学家发现了新的复合物质。
   * discover 除了 find out 以外，也有“知道”的意思。
   e.g. I discovered I was wrong.
        我知道我错了。（这是一个常用句）
 
8) Don't drop that bottle on the floor.
   别让那只瓶子掉到地上。

9) He uses clay to form images of people.
   他利用粘土造各种的人像。
   * organize, construct, constitute 等和 create 具有同样意思，但并不含有创造性的意义。
