Nowadays, smoking is popular. There are a large number of smokers all over the world. Even some teenagers smoke. If you ask them, "Why do you smoke?" They might answer, "Don't you know? It looks cool.'" Is it really a cool thing to do? I'm afraid I can't agree to this.

Let's see some research results which scientists have given us. A person usually needs five minutes to finish a cigarette and it will decrease his life equally; one cigarette is enough to kill a little mouse in seconds. Anyone can see that smoking is really harmful to our health. For example, many smokers have died of lung can-cer. The main cause of the decease is smoking. At the same time, if one member of a family smokes, the others will become indi-rect-smokers. Isn't it terrible?

What's more, buying tobacco is also a waste of money. Nor-mally, it costs a smoker 3 to 5 yuan to pay his cigarette per day, and that's about a hundred yuan per month, or about one thou-sand yuan per year. We have so many better ways to make full use of this money, why do we spend it on something that is only harmful to our health?

Smoking is also bad for our environment. What will you feel when you're walking in a park with so many cigarette butts on the ground? What will you feel when you are attracted by the out-side scenery on a train and suddenly smoke comes to the front of your eyes or into your nose? Horrible!

On seeing this, our government have began to set NO SMOKING area, print marks like SMOKING IS HARMFUL TO YOUR HEALTH on cigarette boxes, and forbid advertisements of cigarette. All these actions are good for us. But, the most im-portant thing is to let smokers get rid of smoking. Maybe it is hard to become true in a moment. It isn't an easy thing for a per-son who has been smoking for a long time. But I still believe, with the development of our country, smokers will get less than be-fore.

At last, I would like to say some words to all my friends: If someone lets you smoke, refuse it; If you're curious to smoke and want to make a try, stop it; If you're smoking now, get rid of it and never touch it again.

Please say "no" to smoking!
