One day a lady saw¹ a mouse running² across³ her kitchen floor. She was⁴ very afraid of mouse, so she ran⁵ out of the house, got⁶ into a bus and went to the shops. There she bought a mousetrap（捕鼠器） . The shopkeeper⁸ said⁹ to her, "Put some cheese in it and you will soon catch that mouse."

The lady went home with her mousetrap, but when she looked in her cupboard（碗柜） , she could¹⁰ not find any cheese in it. She did¹¹ not want to go back to the shop, because it was very late, so she cut a picture of some cheese out of a magazine¹² and put that in the trap⁷.

Surprisingly, the picture of the cheese was quite successful¹³! When the lady came¹⁴ down to the kitchen the next morning she found¹⁵ a picture of a mouse in the trap beside the picture of the cheese!
