Anti-monopoly probe into telecom giants confirmed: The two domestic telecom giants are being investigated over alleged¹ monopolistic practices, the first such case involving large State-owned enterprises.

文中的anti-monopoly probe就是指“反垄断调查”，monopoly既可以指“垄断”，也可以指“垄断企业”，比如steel monopolies（钢铁垄断企业）。此外，monopoly还可以指“专卖权，专卖商品”，比如In many countries tobacco is a government monopoly.（在许多国家,烟草是政府的专卖商品。）

 

国内两家telecom giants（电信巨头），也就是China Telecom（中国电信）和China Unicom（中国联通）被证实接受调查，两家企业共占有中国broadband business（宽带业务）的大半市场。
