国际赛场上一直存在性别争议的问题。而在即将举行的北京奥运会上，为了准确判断参加女子项目的运动员的性别，国际奥委会首次设立性别鉴定实验室。对于存在性别争议的女运动员，今年将首次采取三项检查结合的方式来判定真正性别。

    Beijing has set up asex determination lab to test female Olympic athletes suspected to be males.

    北京设立性别鉴定实验室以测定存在性别争议的奥运会女运动员的真实性别。

    Suspected athletes will be evaluated from their external appearances by experts and undergo blood tests to examine their sex hormones¹, genes² and chromosomes³ for sex determination.

    对性别有争议的运动员，专家除对其外部性征进行检验外，还要抽血化验其性激素、基因以及染色体以判定其性别。

    上述报道中，sex determination lab就是“性别鉴定实验室”，sex hormone是“性激素”，“性别鉴定”有时也译做sex identification，不过，对未出生的胎儿进行的“胎儿性别鉴定”则是gender testing of fetuses，跟上述说法有所差别，可要注意哦。
