为了突出新闻报道的及时性和全面性，记者需要在尽快短的时间内发出尽量多的消息。因此，由于没有太多的时间进行语言上的推敲，所以英文财经报道中的句子偏长，结构比较松散，插入成分也通常比较多。
例如：
"…World Bank Managing Director Richard Frank said in a statement that the $52 billion international rescue package assembled by the Clinton administration--which includes $17 billion from the International Monetary Fund--would meet Mexico's short-term financial crisis, which blew up after the government devalued the peso in December."

另外，财经报道经常涉及各类经济数据、市场价格及其它有关的统计数字，这些数据之间的比较或参照是财经报道的重要组成部分。因此，比较结构在英文财经报道的句型中占有很大的比例。
