It's been an interesting week for David Beckham.

Wednesday saw the player achieve a milestone² 里程碑 in his career by winning his 108th cap （替某国）出场次数 for England in their friendly match 友谊赛 against Spain, equalling the record 打平手 for an outfield player 除守门员外的球员 set by Bobby Moore.

The record for an England player in any position is held by goalkeeper 守门员 Peter Shilton, who represented his country 125 times.

David Beckham, who is currently on loan 被借到 at AC Milan from LA Galaxy³, came on as a 45th minute substitute 替补 but could not prevent his side losing out 2-0 to Spain.

Goals from David Villa⁴ and Fernando Llorente were enough to see off an England side that never really threatened 威胁 the European champions Spain, who are also currently ranked number one in the world by Fifa.

Despite the defeat, the night was a momentous⁵ occasion 重要的时刻 for Beckham. After the match the 33-year-old midfielder paid tribute 称赞 to the late 已故的 Bobby Moore, calling him a "legend" and saying he was "honoured to even be mentioned in the same breath as him."

The other big story in Beckham's week is about his future at AC Milan. Beckham has played six matches with Milan since joining them on loan in January, and has been reinvigorated 重振雄风 by his time there.

He played in one of the world's greatest football derbies 足球同城德比战 last night: the fierce contest between rivals AC Milan and Inter¹ Milan.

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho's Inter side beat AC 2-1, a result which saw them move nine points clear at the top of the division. Inter are now favourites to go on and win the league.

AC Milan currently sit third in the table, and Beckham's game has benefited from the quality players around him at AC Milan, such as Seedorf, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Maldini and Zambrotta. The English player has pulled his weight 尽其所能 by notching⁶ up two goals in his six appearances.

Beckham himself indicated several times over the past week how keen he was to stay at AC Milan.

"I've said I want to stay at Milan and I haven't changed my mind, but it's out of my hands."

By this he means that he cannot personally affect the outcome, that the decision about whether he stays or goes will be made by other people.

Some commentators⁷ 解说员 say that it would be unwise 不明智的 for LA Galaxy to take him back against his will 违背自己的意愿.

Max Bretos, the Soccer Correspondent for American channel Fox News, said of Beckham's and LA Galaxy's relationship that "the marriage has got a bit rocky and it's probably best to move on."

When he says their marriage is rocky, he means the relationship between the player and the club is not very steady and going through a difficult period.

Of course, there is another marriage to consider in whether or not Beckham will move to Milan long-term. David has indicated that his wife, the former Spice Girl Victoria and his three children are his "number one priority".

Beckham joined Milan on loan in an attempt to revive 重新振作起来 his international career after England head coach Fabio Capello said he needed to be playing more competitive football.

Milan, who have had a £5m (48.7m yuan) bid for the 33-year-old rejected, have so far failed to meet the Galaxy's valuation 估价, which is reportedly 据报道 in excess of £10m (97.3m yuan).

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has settled in quickly with Milan, impressing his coach Ancelotti, his team-mates and rival managers with his professionalism 职业精神 and work ethic⁸ 职业道德.
