Rally 拉力赛

Rally, 拉力赛，它是automobile racing赛车的一种。在赛车中，主要有三种类型的race course跑道，它们分别是the oval track, the road course, and the straight-line course—椭圆形路线、公路跑道和直线跑道。我们这里所讲的rally拉力赛使用的是其中的road course, and it is held on public roads using a route not known in advance by the drivers. 车手事先并不知道比赛的路线，除此之外，拉力赛对speed and time速度和时间都有特殊的规定，这些规定都是由rally的governing body—FIA国际汽联做出的。总的说来，Rally is a test of endurance and speed over great distances.拉力赛是考验车手耐力和速度的长距离比赛。国际汽车拉力赛每年的赛事很多，其中最有名的当属WRC--World Rally Championship世界拉力锦标赛，它可算得上是one of the most demanding and challenging motor sport competitions最为费力和最具挑战性的赛车比赛之一。

　　Rally 除了在赛车中指拉力赛外，它也应用在racket games使用球拍的运动中，meaning the exchange of shots连续对打，具体地说，就是在得一分之前，two opponents双方选手之间连续对打的几个回合。

　　Rally除了活跃在体育界，它的身影也出现在stock market and military 股票市场和军队中。In stock exchange, it refers to renewed buying of stocks股市价格的反弹。For example, a rally in the industrial sector³ of the stock market股票市场工业股价格回升。而in military, it means reassembly of troops重整部队。For example, the retreating hussars made a rally and drove the attackers back.撤退的骑兵又重整部队，击退了入侵者。

　　说了这么半天，差点忘记rally最大众化的意思，就是gathering集会，比如说a political rally一次政治集会。当然我们也不要忘记在今天的体育英语中，rally就是拉力赛的意思。
