birth tourism 生育旅游

Thanks to the Fourteenth Amendment¹ to the US Constitution, children born on US soil automatically become US citizens, regardless of where their parents hail from. Hence the phenomenon of US birth tourism, which appears to be a growing trend.

美国《宪法》第十四条修正案规定，不论他们的父母来自哪个国家，在美国国土上出生的小孩都会自动成为美国公民。由此引出了赴美国“生育旅游”的现象，而且这一现象似乎有增长的趋势。

上文中的birth tourism就是“生育旅游”，指准妈妈到有“落地国籍”原则的国家生孩子，以让孩子享有当地国民待遇的行为。因为美国能给本土出生的人citizenship（公民权），因此便成为了“生育旅游”的目的地。现在大陆有很多expectant mothers（准妈妈）都想去美国生小孩，因此提供cross-border baby delivery service（跨境产子服务）的中介机构也多了起来。

现在旅游的目的越来越多样化，旅游不再只是观光，而是附带了各种不同的意义，像ecotourism（生态旅游）、medical tour（医疗旅游）、cultural tourism（文化旅游）等都已不是传统意义上的观光旅游了。
