dilapidated houses 危房

China plans to renovate¹ 2.65 million dilapidated houses for poor rural households in the central and western regions this year, the Ministry² of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) said Monday.

住房和城乡建设部周一称，我国计划今年完成中西部265万农村贫困户危房的改造。

在上面的报道中，dilapidated houses就是“危房”，也可以用run-down houses来表示。Run-down意思是“破败的，失修的”。危房就是破败失修、随时可能倒塌的房屋。危房将被改造为energy-efficient housing（节能型住宅）。

此次危房改造的重点对象是poor rural households（农村贫困户），包括household enjoying the five guarantees（五保户）、household enjoying the minimum living guarantee（低保户）、household of impoverished³ people with disabilities（贫困残疾人家庭）等。
