code of ethics 廉政准则

The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee issued a code of ethics¹ for CPC cadres to follow Tuesday to ensure clean practice in their work and prevent corruption².

为确保廉洁从政，防止腐败，中共中央本周二颁布了党员领导干部廉政准则。

文种的code of ethics就是“道德准则”，在这里具体指颁布的“廉政准则”。这是一项重要的intra-Party regulation（党内规章制度），将有助于确保clean governance（廉洁从政）。此外，我国还将继续推广e-government （电子政府），实行administrative transparency（政务透明），进一步打击腐败行为。

Code在这里表示“准则、道德规范”。除了code of ethics之外，各行各业都有自己的code of practice（行为准则）。此外，code最常见的意思是指各种密码或代码，例如打长途电话需要先拨area code（区号），收银员结账时会扫描商品的bar code（条码），军事行动中人们之间联系时会使用code name（代号），发送情报的时候多会用到Morse code（摩尔斯电码）。
