mass texting 群发短信

An agreement among the country's three main mobile network operators last June stipulates¹ that if the number of mass texting from a phone number reaches 200 within an hour or 1,000 within a day, the phone's message service will be suspended for a week.

国内三大电信运营商去年六月做出统一规定，同一手机号码一小时内群发短信数超过200条，一天内超过1000条，该号码的短信功能将被暂停一周。

在上面的报道中，mass texting就是“群发短信”，现在的手机基本都有群发短信的功能。Mass的意思是“大量的，大批的，大规模的”。例如：mass unemployment（大批失业），mass arrests（大规模逮捕），mass media（大众传媒）。

国内有illicit messages（非法短信）、junk/spam messages（垃圾短信）、pornographic text messages（色情/黄色短信）等问题，国外的青少年中也存在让人头疼的sexting（性短信）。现在手机技术不断进步，除了发送一般的文字短信，还可以发送multimedia message（彩信）。
