Beijing not to rival Athens on the investment on Olympics

Chinanews, Beijing, January 26 – Beijing municipal government said that it will not invest more money on the 2008 Olympics than Athens did in 2004.

 

The information was released at a press conference in Beijing on January 24, 2007.

 

However, the “investment” mentioned at the conference will not include the investment on urban infrastructure1 in Beijing, but only the money necessary for holding the Games. The general accounting2 after the Games in 2008 will prove whether Beijing has fulfilled its promise or not.

 

By the way, Beijing is planning to complete all the Olympic stadiums and gymnasiums before the end of 2007, and 23 testing games will be held by then.
