它们还是“名字”吗?

　　如同“陈世美”在中文里就是“负心郎”的代名词，美国俚语中大量的表达方式中也涉及了名字。由于政治，历史，宗教，文化，日常生活的原因，姓名演义在英文交流中的应用既频繁又生动。现小举几例如下：

1．We can pay you $300 a week, minus¹ 10% for Uncle Sam of course.
　　Uncle Sam: 美国政府。

2．When Nancy was younger, she was a plain Jane; now she was a really Betty.
　　plain Jane：相貌平常的女子，Betty: 美女。那么一般普通的男子呢？Plain Joe.

3．I’m sorry I can’t go play basketball with you because I got a charley horse on my leg.
　　charley horse：（脚，腿）抽痉。

4．My father bought me a Lazy Susan for the dining room table. Now we can reach the salt and pepper² without asking.
