　　The 14th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Seventh National People's Congress has decided² that the English translation of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative³ Region of the People's Republic of China， examined and approved under the aegis⁴ of the Law Committee of the National People's Congress， shall be the official English text and shall be equally authentic⁵ as the Chinese text. In case of any discrepancy⁶ in the meaning of wording between the English text and the Chinese text， the Chinese text shall prevail.
