poisonous land 毒地

After the "poisonous land" case in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, hit the headlines, students in another school in the same province recently also reported symptoms such as bleeding from their noses to body itching¹ and skin peeling. 

江苏常州“毒地”事件被曝光后迅速占领媒体头条，而近日江苏省另一所学校也被曝出学生出现身体发痒、皮肤蜕皮、流鼻血等症状。

 

这所学校的学生表示，闻到刺激性气味（pungent² smell），疑来自附近化工厂（neighboring chemical plants）。当地政府并未否认有异味污染物（"peculiar³ smell" pollution），并要求附近化工厂全部停产（order a full shutdown of the plants）。
