初中学生作品欣赏－I Want to Be…

Somebody asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up. Well, the answer is: I'm not sure what I want to be, because I want to do many jobs.

When I was young,! wanted so much to be a dentist. Why? Because my teeth were not good, so I often had to pay visits to the dentist. I had to obey whenever the dentist said, "Open your mouth" or "close your mouth", and once I had a tooth pulled out! So I thought to myself, I would really like to make young chil-dren open their mouths and release¹ the pain in their teeth. Maybe sometimes I will tell them their bad, painful² teeth need to be pulled out. Some of them might be frightened and run right away, as I did!"

Now, I want to be a teacher, because I think teachers are among the most respected³ people. Our teachers do their best to ed-ucate children, and most of their time is spent on students. When my class teacher comes into the classroom, all the noisy students become quiet at once, and begin digging⁴ into their books. When-ever my classmates do something wrong, or don't study very well, she has to call them to her office and teach them how to be-have better. She also has to issue⁵ and carefully check our home-work, and discuss problems concerning⁶ education with the stu-dents and their parents. When students graduate, they won't for-get their teachers who have taught them so much knowledge and to be good children.

So, these two jobs are what I want to do. Who knows what I will become? Maybe a dentist, or a teacher, or perhaps something entirely⁷ different!
