A suicide car bomber1 has struck a joint2 Afghan-Nato military base in eastern Paktia province, say officials.

Foreign forces are due to withdraw from Afghanistan by 2014, which has sparked fears of a surge in violence.
 
An Isaf spokesman told AFP the combat outpost in Zurmat district was attacked by "insurgents3 using a vehicle-borne improvised4 explosive device".
 
A spokesman for the Paktiya provincial5 governor told the agency that 10 wounded Afghan soldiers had evacuated6.
