Chinanews, Beijing, January 8 – After 20 years of research and development, China is equipped with world-class agricultural technologies in many aspects.

 

The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and its bio-technology institute have made great achievements during the 10th Five-Year Plan Period (2000-2005).

 

Currently, 64 strains of anti-pest cotton have been bred in China via transgenetic methods to break the monopoly of foreign enterprises in this field. Transgenetic rice has also passed safety test, and it might become another growth point of agriculture in China after the hybrid1 rice developed by Yuan Longping.
