China to prohibit toy production without CCC certification

Chinanews, Beijing, Dec. 19 – In order to improve toy production safety, to protect the health of Chinese children and to maintain Chinese toys' product fame in the world, Chinese government has ordered that starting from the beginning of next year, all toys that don't have the China Compulsory1 Certification (abbreviated as CCC certification) as required by the Chinese government, and all toys that are not labeled with CCC certification as required shall be banned from selling, said a person in charge at the Certification and Accreditation2 Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA) on Tuesday.

 

On June 1 this year, CNCA applied3 the CCC accreditation system in six types of toys which, if not used properly, might directly affect children's health and safety. The six types of toys include prams4, electronic toys, ejection toys, dolls, plastic toys and toys made of metals. CNCA stipulates5 that these toys should not be produced, sold, exported or used for other business purposes if they don't obtain related CCC certificates or bear the CCC labels.
