China develops good bilateral trade relations with EU, US and Japan

Chinanews, Beijing, Nov. 16 – The European Union, the United States and Japan are the three biggest trade partners of China. Recently, China has implemented1 a series of macro economic policies on trade. As a result of these policies, Chinese trade surplus has fallen month by month. China's bilateral2 trade relations with the three parties are generally good. So far, the growth rate of Chinese trade surplus with EU and US has declined gradually. At the same time, China has enlarged its trade deficit3 with Japan, the China Customs Office said recently.

 

During the first three quarters of this year, China's bilateral trade with EU reached 256.13 billion US dollars, increasing by 27.8%. China's trade surplus with EU reached 94.89 billion US dollars, increasing by 52.2% and the growth rate declined by 5.1 percentage points compared with that of August.

 

During the first three quarters of the year, China's trade with US reached 221.36 billion US dollars, increasing by 15.6%. The trade surplus with US reached 118.62 billion US dollars, increasing by 16.1% and the growth rate was lowered by 9.7 percentage points compared with last year.

 

From January to September, trade with Japan reached 171.94 billion US dollars, increasing by 14%. The trade deficit with Japan reached 23.98 billion US dollars, increasing by 6.33 billion US dollars compared with the same period last year and almost reaching the total trade deficit for the whole of last year.

 

Since 2002, Chinese trade with Japan has always been in deficit and the figure has grown year on year. In 2006, Chinese trade deficit with Japan reached 24.05 billion US dollars, which was almost five times that of 2002.
