Chinanews, Chengdu, Nov. 14 – Experts said in a forum1 that there were nearly 3,000 wild giant pandas in China, which number is much higher than in the previous years.

 

Zhang Zhihe, director of Giant Panda Reproduction Technological2 Institute, said that giant pandas could continuously develop in the prospective3 evolution. According to Wei Fuwen, a scholar form Chinese Academy of Science, currently there are nearly 3,000 giant pandas living in the wild in China.

 

Wei said that he led a research project in Wanglang Nature Reserve region, and related research found that DNA4 samples of the giant panda were three times higher than previous years, which proved that there were many more giant pandas living in the region.

 

He said more places should be designated as giant pandas’ habitats.
