| Chinanews, Xi’an, October 27 – The No.2 Terracotta Warrior2 Pit of the Mausoleum of the Qinshihuang Emperor, will be closed as of November 1, 2007, for refurbishment.
The No.2 Pit, covering 8,000 sq m, is the biggest of the 3 pits at the site. More than 2,000 cultural relics have been found in the pit, including several Terracotta Generals, Terracotta Riders and Terracotta Archers3. The No.2 Pit has been open to the general public since 1994. This time, the roof over it will be repaired. After its closure, all the unearthed4 cultural relics will be moved to the exhibition hall of the Terracotta Warrior Museum, while the pit will be covered again with earth to protect undiscovered cultural relics. It will take 5 months to complete the project, before the Pit will be opened to the visitors again on April 20, 2008.
