Chinanews, Urumqi, August 23 – On August 15 and 17, respectively two wild horses released by the Xinjiang Wild Horse Breeding Center were killed in two hit-and-run accidents in Karamay Nature Reserve, and now the police are searching for suspects.

 

Wild horses are under state-level protection in China. A fully1 grown wild horse is 2.8 m long, at least 1 m tall and approximately 300 kg heavy. By the way, it has 33 pairs of chromosomes2, while a domestic horse only has 32.

 

The first hit-and-run case was reported on the morning of August 15. It happened on the No. 216 National Highway. In the accident, Junggar No. 51 was hit on the back, and died at night.The second accident also occurred on the No. 216 National Highway, killing3 a foal.
