Chinanews, Beijing, Aug. 21 – According to Beijing Youth Daily, latest scientific research launched by Wen Puwen, a scholar from Chinese Academy of Sciences, finds that panda still has the potential capacity to evolve, and the related research result has been published in American journal Molecular1 Biology and Evolution.

 

Latest statistics show that giant pandas only live in mountains located in China's western mountains. Because giant pandas are hard to trace in the mountainous areas, it has very difficult to carry out researches on them for years.

 

Wen’s research is supported by Sichuan Forestry2 Bureau, Southwest Nonmal University and other local scientific institutes, and in his research report Wen believes giant pandas can still make continuous evolution.

 

Wen also thinks that because of increasing human activities in the past 1,000 years, giant panda’s reproduction capacity is on the decline.
