Chinanews, Chengdu, July 24 - According to the latest information from Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Center, Chengji, a female giant panda there, gave birth to twin baby pandas on the afternoon of July 23.

 

Chengji, now 7, gave birth to the twins after 129 days of pregnancy1. She was brought to bed at 3:00 am. The first baby panda was born at 5:50 pm, and the second was born half an hour later. It was the first time for Chengji to become a mother.

 

The second baby panda is female and 176 g heavy. However, as Chengji takes the first baby firmly in her arms, it is impossible to check its gender2 and weight.
